Valparaíso Heritage Interpretation

Join us and discover how a small and insignificant coastal colonial village of Chile, was transformed during the Victorian era to become a UNESCO World Heritage site because: “Valparaíso is an exceptional testimony to the early phase of globalisation in the late 19th century, when it became the leading commercial port on the sea routes of the Pacific coast of South America”.

Located in Valparaíso on the old road to Santiago, “Villa Victoria” an antique Manor of 1865, transformed in 1904, has survived many big earthquakes of Chile, like the devastating one of 1906 to the last one of 2010.
Villa Victoria just opened in June 2014, after a large restoration of the building to preserve the original glamour of one of the wealthiest family of the city, the original owners, that were later converted in a bakery in 1919.

During a guided tour in English of one hour, conducted by the owners of the house, the guests will be exposed to the cultural change of the globalization in this port, by means of interpreters in period dress portraying visitors and immigrants to Valparaíso during the 19th century. With timelines and technology, antique objects and historic facts a time travel will be done, to be later challenged to find where are the workshops, to watch how the antique tools were used to support the maritime trade.

The tour ends inside the old bakery of the House, converted in a Tea Room and Emporium where you will enjoy a warm cup of tea or coffee with handmade pastries, just baked!

Villa Victoria received in the last month the most important recognitions, by the City of Valparaíso, the “Juana Ross de Edwards” Awarad, presented by the Major of the City, and the “City Award” by Fundacion Futuro, presented by the former President of Chile, Mr. Sebastián Piñera.

Villa Victoria, una nueva propuesta cultural entretenida en Valparaíso

No se vaya de Valparaíso sin conocer su verdadera historia. Ubicada al inicio del antiguo camino a Santiago, al final de la Avenida Argentina, la vieja Casona que data de 1865, transformada en 1904 y restaurada 110 años después por sus actuales propietarios, es la nueva propuesta cultural de Valparaíso, puerto declarado patrimonio de la humanidad por la UNESCO, por ser un testimonio excepcional de la fase temprana de globalización a fines del siglo XIX.


Precisamente en este lugar, ambientado a fines del siglo XIX, con novedosos recursos y objetos, herramientas y personajes caracterizados de  época, se logra crear en un recorrido interpretado al interior de la Casona, una experiencia única, que permite emocionarse y reencantarse con nuestra historia e identidad, recorriendo mas de 100 años de historia en una hora, de vivencias, sorpresas, emociones y recuerdos, e incluso trabajando como antaño o viendo cómo se hacían ciertas cosas.

Villa Victoria apunta a ser un nuevo referente cultural, en un nuevo polo de desarrollo cultural en Valparaíso, aledaño al barrio Santa Elena y Polanco, sector residencial tradicional y de colegios de prestigio de Valparaíso. Es sin duda una iniciativa pionera no sólo en este lugar, sino en el país entero.

Los creadores de Villa Victoria se han propuesto emplear todos los recursos que pone a disposición la Interpretación Patrimonial para “Valorar” este destino turístico, tanto para los visitantes nacionales como extranjeros, dando un sello de turismo cultural de calidad, al mismo nivel y estándar de lo que hoy hay en Europa o América del Norte.

Villa Victoria se encuentra preparada para recibir diariamente a los grupos de visitantes que hacen desde Santiago una excursión por el día a Valparaíso, por medio de Operadores de Turismo mayoristas y así ofrecer un recorrido de sólo 45 minutos una visión histórica y vivencial muy clara de lo que pasó en el puerto en el siglo XIX.

También para atender al Turismo de Crucero, en sus recaladas por horas al puerto, con visitas interpretadas en Inglés, quedando a sólo 5 minutos del terminal de pasajeros de Valparaíso (VTP).

El Valor de la Entrada es de $ 6.000 y se regala al término de la visita un Té o Café en la Tetería – Emporio, la antigua panadería de la Casona, ambientada en el 1900.


Cuenta con visitas interpretadas para estudiantes durante el período escolar, con un guión adaptado a su programa de estudio y un proyecto cultural aprobado, con el beneficio tributario de la ley de donaciones culturales, para que las empresas chilenas puedan invitar a estos alumnos a un taller de interpretación patrimonial, gratuito, de tal forma de colocar la cultura al alcance de cualquier chileno o chilena.
